Computer Administered Symptom Inventories: Version 2
for Windows (CASI: Version 2)
-
- Kenneth D. Gadow, Ph.D., Joyce Sprafkin, Ph.D. and
Joseph Gartner, M.D.
-
- This Windows program is designed to assist the
clinician to administer and score the Child and Adolescent Symptom
Inventories-4: Early Childhood Inventory-4 Parent Checklist,
Early Childhood Inventory-4 Teacher Checklist, Child Symptom
Inventory-4 Parent Checklist, Child Symptom Inventory-4 Teacher
Checklist, Adolescent Symptom Inventory-4 Parent Checklist,
Adolescent Symptom Inventory-4 Teacher Checklist, and Youth's
Inventory-4. Patients and their caregivers can complete the CASI-4 in
the waiting room prior to the clinic evaluation. Responses are scored
immediately allowing clinicians an opportunity to review responses prior to
meeting the patient. Results can be used to organize the interview around
DSM-IV
disorders by focusing on relevant symptoms, thus saving valuable time. The
CASI can also be used as a scoring program by simply entering item responses
from the paper version.
On-Screen Administration
Items appear on the screen in an easy-to-read
format. The patient simply uses the mouse to point and click on the
frequency of each symptom (never, sometimes, often, very often). The
software allows the user to return to previous answers to make changes. The
software automatically alerts the user if items were left incomplete.
Report
The software automatically
scores the responses to the CASI-4 and generates a long (5-page) or short
(3-page report) which includes the following:
-
Demographic
information
-
The number of clinically significant symptoms (Symptom Count
scores)
-
Whether the patient meets criteria for the number of symptoms
indicated as being necessary for a diagnosis (Screening Cutoff score)
-
For each disorder,
lists the other disorders to be considered in making a differential diagnosis
-
The severity of
symptoms (Symptom Severity scores) in terms of raw scores and normative scores (T
scores), which are presented graphically in a symptom profile
-
Listing of
individual items and user responses (optional)
-
Reports may be
printed or saved in a variety of formats (Plain Text, Rich Text Format, Word for
Windows, Excel, and others)
