Child Symptom Inventory-4 (CSI-4) |
User Level: B
The Child Symptom Inventory-4
(CSI-4) is a behavior rating scale that screens for a variety of
childhood emotional and behavioral disorders and is based on the
criteria specified in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental
Disorders-IV (American Psychiatric Association;1994). The CSI-4
is appropriate for use with male and female children aged 5-12
years old in Kindergarten through 6th grade.
CSI-4 scores show a high degree
of correspondence with psychiatric diagnosis (criterion validity) and
correlate well with other commonly used dimensional scales of
psychopathology (convergent/divergent validity). As a result, the CSI-4 is
useful as a screening instrument in mental health settings, schools, and
healthcare facilities.
Two versions of the CSI-4 are
available. The CSI-4 Parent Checklist contains 97 items and
screens for 15 emotional and behavioral disorders and the CSI-4
Teacher Checklist contains 77 items and screens for 13 emotional and
behavioral disorders. Each of these instruments is designed to be
completed in less than 20 minutes.
